With no pending shows, no radio interviews, no studio time to plan around, I am in a strange situation more widely known as free time. It is in this free time that i will relax, reflect and hit the road. That's right my and two friends are taking the opportunity to drive from Virginia to Vermont to hit the slopes and haunt the local bars as we hone our skills at snowboarding. My friends and I are heading to Killington Vermont to ride and we are going to hit as many bars and see the local night life. Who knows maybe we will make a video and pitch it to the travel channel... any ideas or sponsors our there?
Pictures to come!

Down Time.
Well followers and fellow bloggers, I have not played a show since last weekend, no band practice and a regular lack luster work week. That being said I Cannot say I did not have an interesting week. I can tell you that I had a co-worker quit his position, I was told that I would not be considered for a sales position, and i was made to stay late Friday night. Like i said very busy week. As a gigging musician you always like to be playing. When there are no shows there is no traveling. No Traveling means a chance to get caught up some errands I am behind on. I have an 89 jeep wrangler that failed its state inspection for a bad front ball joint on the right side. The good news is my sisters boyfriend is a diesel mechanic with all the tools, experience, and patience to get the job done. The bad news is that it was 15 degrees all weekend. So we got the work done, my Jeep is/should pass inspection and the frostbite should wear off.

Back from the road...
Alright,
As the title confirms i am most definitely back from the road typing from my kitchen table. My band had a triumphant showing at New York City's famous Irving Plaza, while we where supporting our good friends and fellow musicians The Energy, at their CD release Party. The night started off great... I was the last one to get to the venue which forced me out of my normal nonchalant care free mentality, into a frenzy of activity. I had to locate the drum kit i was using, find out where to stash my gear, all while dodging the back of house crew who kept asking me why i was backstage with out a "talent pass", thus forcing me to divert my attention to that matter. Once all the menial tasks had been accomplished it was time to sit down and wait till it was Crooked Crows tern to go on.
The talent for the night ran the was as diverse as the day is long, featuring a soulful young lady with a larger then life voice, a band that may very well be the offspring of Primus and The Mighty Mighty Bosstones(with a dancing penguin), the cast from jersey shore, then our friends The Energy. The Energy live up to their name, those guys owned the venue that night.
As they say, after the party it is the after party, and although we did not party with the other bands Crooked Crow did our share of cutting loose. After our show me and my fellow band mates congregated on another NYC haunt by the name of Arlene's Grocery. I got word that a good friend of mine was playing a set and he asked my band to close the night out for him, so yet again Crooked Crow took up the charge and got on stage. We only had time for one song, so we played a new track titled "On The Avenue" which was well received.
After that my band and I all went our separate ways for the evening. I headed back to my friends studio apartment, where I had a nice plot on the floor waiting for me. My friend and I decided to get some famous New York Pizza so we dropped in on the closest place to grab a slice. As luck would have it, some how I would offend a heavy set heavily intoxicated gentleman who took my looking for an ATM as a nod that I was looking for trouble. My new found friend decided to let me know exactly what he thought of me, by breaking into a fanatical, and slapping me in the arm. All of that excitement caused him to fall out of his chair smack into the floor with a wet slapping sound and pass out. Leaving me to the conclusion that I win again New York City!
Till next time!

Here we go...
Hey all,
This is my very first blog, so please bear with me, as I am new to this. My main objective is to chronicle the misadventures in my day to day life, and when my band, Crooked Crow, is on the road. The reason my blog has the title "Life on the Road From Home," is because my band has not "made it" just yet. As we start to gain notoriety in our local scene, we have started branching out on the weekends. We are getting shows in Pennsylvania, Maryland, New Jersey, and most frequently New York City. My band mates and I are getting a taste of what life is like on the road, with a cold slap of reality come Monday morning; when we are all forced to punch in and stow our dreams away behind our respective desks.
The start of this Blog actually coincides with what is easily my bands biggest show on the road. We are opening up for our friends, The Energy, as they are releasing their latest CD. As the week goes on i will have more to write, and as next Sunday rolls around I am sure I will have some interesting stories to tell about my life on the road—while i write from my couch.
